Colophon: Irma Boom

…
Make a lot of space on your bookshelf: you have hundreds of books into this special one. It’s a great work, however not bigger than a barcode. More than 700 pages, collecting books designed in the past 25 years by Irma Boom (my favorite book designer). An exhibit catalogue designed by herself. Surprising, once again, like all her creations.
I follow her from a long time ago. I ’scan’ interesting books by colophon, looking for I.B. (no bookseller is able to help you in this) so when you find her, you’re be sure you’ve found a treasure. I think that Irma Boom is an anti star-designer. A bare website, not a lot of interviews on internet, just a few exhibitions. And here we are: the best book designer shows her greatest works into the smallest book. I really love her approach: it takes a lot of guts. Nothing to demonstrate, size doesn’t matter at all.
